The Tasmanian Government is committed to providing opportunities for community involvement in the development of Government policy and we are seeking your input on the draft Tasmanian Government Statement of Expectations for Data Centres and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Infrastructure.

The Tasmanian Government supports the establishment of data centres and AI infrastructure that contribute to Tasmania’s economic growth, create skilled jobs, strengthen communities and make the most of the State’s renewable energy advantage.

The draft Tasmanian Government Statement of Expectations for Data Centres and AI Infrastructure is intended to provide guidance and confidence to proponents, investors, industry, communities and other stakeholders, while supporting the responsible development of data centre and AI projects that deliver enduring benefits for Tasmania.

The consultation period closes at 11.59pm on Monday 12 October 2026.
