Women and girls in sport

This workshop is designed for coaches and officials to build capability in supporting women and girls in sport. It will focus on creating inclusive, welcoming environments and strengthening knowledge, skills and confidence in coaching and officiating women and girls. Participants will explore practical strategies, share experiences, and identify actions they can apply in their own sporting settings.

  • Garry Dunne

    State Umpire Manager, AFL Tasmania

    Garry Dunne is experienced in umpiring at all levels of football, having officiated in the North East AFL and Queensland AFL senior competitions and youth football, as well as acting as an umpire coach.

    He moved to Tasmania 12 months ago and leads AFL Tasmania’s umpiring team, focusing on retention and recruitment and developing new and existing umpires throughout Tasmania.

  • Justin Morris

    Mind Matters Athlete Coaching

    Justin Morris is a Tasmanian coach and former professional cyclist who competed internationally and was a Tasmanian Institute of Sport scholarship holder.

    Mr Morris is the founder of Mind Matters Athlete Coaching and a mentor coach with the Australian Institute of Sport’s coach mentoring program. He has a background in psychology and education, and works with athletes and coaches across a range of sporting settings.
