The Tasmanian Government has recently completed a strategic planning activity (known as a Strategic Business Case) to inform options for improving public transport accessibility, reducing congestion and supporting urban development outcomes across Greater Hobart.

The Strategic Business Case identified a three-corridor rapid bus network as a potential public transport solution, which would most effectively work together with the existing urban bus service, ferries and accessible cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. It also recommended further detailed investigation of the Northern Corridor, from the Hobart city centre to Claremont.

This next stage of work, known as a Detailed Business Case, will look more closely at the northern corridor through a range of technical analysis to test these earlier findings. The community will also be asked to provide feedback as part of these investigations. This is a necessary step for future government funding for such a large-scale project.

The Land Use Survey is an important step in confirming land-use patterns along the Northern Suburbs Transit Corridor to inform current understanding and future decision-making. The survey will be released to specific landowners in late July, and will be open until mid August.

We are in the early stages of technical analysis and will engage with the community in September and October.
