On 19 March 2024, an audit was conducted on the Tasman Highway, between St Helens and Scottsdale. The assessed section is approximately 89.6 kilometres long.

Between St Helens and Scottsdale, the Tasman Highway passes through the townships of Goshen, Goulds Country, Pyengana, Weldborough, Moorina, Derby, Branxholm, and Tonganah.

The posted speed limit along the majority of the majority of the route is 100km/h, with the speed being reduced to 80km/h in especially hazardous sections and reduce to 60km/h through some of the aforementioned townships.

The section of highway was selected due to its popularity and taking into account the crash history of the route. In the decade from 2013 to 2023, there were a total of 54 crashes along the route involving motorcyclists.

The audit brought together experienced motorcyclists, road managers and stakeholders to identify solutions to improve road safety outcomes for motorcyclists. A small group rode the route to record data about the ride. A larger group of stakeholder and experts then came together for a workshop to discuss the findings from the ride.

Infrastructure treatments informed by the audit were completed in June 2025.
This included the installation of:

• speed and curve tightening signs.
• 30 Curve Advisory Markers (CAMS)
• approximately 690 metres of new barrier with underrun protection installed.
• approximately 620 metres of underrun rail protection on existing guardrail.
